FAQ

Release vs contest chronology, binge path, Season 3 finale, and extras outside the main rows.

Watch order

Release order is when each season premiered on Netflix (2021, 2024, 2025). Story order labels the same three arcs as Contest 1 → 2 → 3 in Gi-hun's fiction. Unlike franchises with flashback prequels, Squid Game's mainline is linear—watch 1 → 2 → 3 for both tabs.

Canon & contests

Yes. Season 3 premiered on Netflix June 27, 2025 (six episodes). Netflix and creator Hwang Dong-hyuk billed it as the final season—there is no Season 4 on the main timeline as of August 2026.

Optional & extras

Squid Game: The Challenge (2023–2024) is a real-life competition series inspired by the show—not in-universe canon and not listed as timeline rows. Watch it anytime as optional meta entertainment; it does not affect Gi-hun's story order.
