FAQ

Release vs in-universe order, canon vs Legends, Cal Kestis and KOTOR placement, and what this page excludes.

Release order

Release order follows US launch dates from KOTOR (2003) through Outlaws (2024). Story order follows in-universe time: ~3956 BBY (KOTOR) → KOTOR II → ~21 BBY (Republic Commando) → ~14 BBY (Fallen Order) → ~9 BBY (Survivor) → ~3 ABY (Outlaws). They diverge because Old Republic games launched first but happen millennia before the Empire era.

Modern canon focus: Jedi: Fallen Order → Jedi: Survivor (then Outlaws if you want more). Classic RPG: KOTOR → KOTOR II (remasters on current platforms—FAQ). Completionist: Release order from KOTOR forward—expect huge time jumps in fiction between blocks.

Story & canon

Story order lists canon narrative games only. The Force Unleashed and Force Unleashed II are Legends—they stay on Release order with a Legends tag but not on Story order. KOTOR and KOTOR II remain widely referenced in modern canon (Revan, etc.) and appear on both tracks.

Yes for Cal's arc: Jedi: Fallen Order then Jedi: Survivor—same protagonist, five in-universe years apart. Survivor assumes Fallen Order character relationships and plot beats. No save import required on all platforms, but story order is fixed.

This page covers narrative video games only—not a full Star Wars canon timeline for films and series. Games intersect film eras (e.g. Outlaws between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi; Fallen Order after Revenge of the Sith) but we do not chart every movie or Disney+ show here.
