FAQ
Release vs story order, Remake vs original, Extraction placement, Awakened, and optional spin-offs.
Release order
Release order is when each Dead Space game launched in the US (2008–2023)—including Extraction and the Remake. Story order follows Isaac's fiction path: Extraction (optional prequel) → Dead Space / Remake → Dead Space 2 → Dead Space 3 (+ Awakened). The Remake retells the 2008 game; Ignition, mobile titles, and films are optional.
Recommended: Dead Space Remake → Dead Space 2 → Dead Space 3, then Awakened DLC. Optional lore first: Extraction before the Remake. You do not need the 2008 original if you own the Remake. Skip Ignition, the mobile game, and the animated films on a first pass.

Both share one Story-order slot; this page keeps the 2008 entry for Release history. You do not need both for the plot.
