Watch order
Spider-Man movie watch order
Every major theatrical Spider-Man film from Spider-Man (2002) through Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), plus Miles Morales’s Spider-Verse features. Use Release for premiere order; use Story for a universe binge (Tobey → Andrew → Tom → Miles) so No Way Home’s multiverse guests make sense. Civil War and the Avengers films stay on the MCU movies page; Insomniac’s games stay on Spider-Man games.
Release order
When each Spider-Man theatrical film opened in the US—from Spider-Man (2002) through Brand New Day (2026), including Into / Across the Spider-Verse. Best first path if you want the same order theaters used.
- First full binge → Release tab start to finish
- Tom Holland only → Homecoming → Far From Home → No Way Home → Brand New Day
- Max No Way Home payoff → finish Raimi + Amazing before the Holland trilogy ends
- Miles lane → Into the Spider-Verse → Across the Spider-Verse
Story order tips
A universe binge built for No Way Home: Raimi trilogy → Amazing duo → Holland solos (Homecoming → Far From Home → No Way Home → Brand New Day) → Miles Spider-Verse. Not a single shared fiction chronology—three live-action canons plus Miles.
- Tobey → Raimi 1–3
- Andrew → Amazing 1–2
- Tom → Homecoming through Brand New Day
- Miles → Into then Across (after live-action on this tab)

Release order

Spider-Man
TheatricalStreamingRaimiLive-actionTobey Maguire’s Peter Parker gains powers after a radioactive spider bite, falls for Mary Jane, and faces Norman Osborn’s Green Goblin—the film that made modern live-action Spidey feel sincere instead of campy. Uncle Ben’s death and the “great power” lesson still define every later reboot.
- Overview
- Sam Raimi’s 2002 hit mixed practical web-swinging, Danny Elfman’s score, and Willem Dafoe’s unhinged Goblin into a blockbuster that proved comic heroes could carry summer. Kirsten Dunst’s MJ and James Franco’s Harry set the emotional triangle No Way Home later revisits. For many fans this is still the default “first Spider-Man movie.”
- Related games
- No MCU prerequisite. Insomniac’s game continuity is separate—see Spider-Man games.
- Where it fits
- Start here on the Release tab and on the Story tab’s Raimi lane. Nothing earlier is required. If you only care about Tom Holland, you can soft-skip—but Tobey’s return in No Way Home lands harder if you know this film.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release May 3, 2002 (Columbia Pictures / Sony).

Spider-Man 2
TheatricalStreamingRaimiLive-actionPeter’s life collapses under the mask—job, school, and MJ all fray—while Doctor Octopus threatens New York with a fusion experiment gone wrong. Often ranked the peak of the Raimi trilogy for its train fight, humor, and Maguire/Molina chemistry.
- Overview
- Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock balances menace and tragedy; the elevated-train climax is still a franchise watermark. Raimi doubles down on soap-opera sincerity (“Pizza time”) without losing spectacle. This is the Tobey film most people mean when they say the old movies “got Spider-Man right.”
- Related games
- No MCU films required. Venom does not appear as a lead here—that chaos waits until Spider-Man 3.
- Where it fits
- Watch after Spider-Man (2002). Essential before Spider-Man 3 and before No Way Home if you want Tobey’s full arc. On Story tab it stays the middle of the Raimi trilogy.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release June 30, 2004.

Spider-Man 3
TheatricalStreamingRaimiLive-actionA symbiote amplifies Peter’s worst instincts while Sandman and a crowded villain slate close Tobey’s original trilogy. Messy, meme-famous (the emo dance), and still required homework if you want No Way Home’s Tobey reunion to feel earned.
- Overview
- Studio pressure packed in Venom and more subplots than the story could carry, but the black-suit corruption and Harry’s Goblin turn finish Raimi continuity. Later Sony Venom solo films are a different lane—not sequels to this movie’s symbiote story.
- Related games
- Sony’s later Venom / Morbius films are FAQ-only on this page—they are not Spider-Man-led rows. Games: Spider-Man games.
- Where it fits
- Release #3 and Raimi finale on the Story tab. Watch after Spider-Man 2. Soft-skippable only if you accept thinner Tobey context in No Way Home.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release May 4, 2007.

The Amazing Spider-Man
TheatricalStreamingWebbLive-actionAndrew Garfield’s reboot leans into orphan mystery, Oscorp science, and a romance with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) while the Lizard terrorizes New York. It is a new continuity, not a sequel to Tobey—treat the slate as wiped until the multiverse collides.
- Overview
- Marc Webb aimed for a grounded, restless Peter: parkour web-slinging, father-conspiracy breadcrumbs, and Rhys Ifans’s Curt Connors. The Gwen relationship becomes the emotional spine of the Amazing duo and the wound Andrew carries into No Way Home.
- Related games
- No MCU prerequisite. Optional: finish Raimi first only for No Way Home prep, not for plot continuity here.
- Where it fits
- Release #4. On the Story tab it opens the Amazing universe after the full Raimi trilogy so each canon stays clean. Do not expect shared history with Tobey until No Way Home.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release July 3, 2012.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
TheatricalStreamingWebbLive-actionElectro rises, Harry Osborn’s Green Goblin plot accelerates, and Gwen’s story reaches its tragedy—closing Garfield’s main duology. Overstuffed villains, but the Gwen arc is why Andrew’s No Way Home scenes hit so hard.
- Overview
- Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Dane DeHaan’s Harry crowd the runtime; Stone and Garfield still carry the human core. This is the last Amazing-universe feature before Sony pivoted toward the MCU deal—until multiverse casting brought Andrew back.
- Related games
- No MCU prerequisite. Amazing continuity ends here until No Way Home’s crossover.
- Where it fits
- Watch after The Amazing Spider-Man. On Story tab it finishes the Andrew lane before Holland begins. Strongly recommended before No Way Home if you want full emotional payoff.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release May 2, 2014.

Spider-Man: Homecoming
TheatricalStreamingMCU HollandLive-actionTom Holland’s Peter balances high school, a homemade suit, and Tony Stark’s mentorship while the Vulture (Michael Keaton) strips Avengers wreckage for weapons. MCU Spidey’s first solo film—street-level after the Civil War cameo.
- Overview
- Jon Watts blends John Hughes teen comedy with Marvel set pieces. Keaton’s Adrian Toomes keeps the threat local and personal instead of alien-god scale. Zendaya’s Michelle, Jacob Batalon’s Ned, and the homemade-suit DIY ethic define Holland’s early voice.
- Related games
- Optional MCU prep: Civil War on the MCU movies page. Insomniac play order: Spider-Man games.
- Where it fits
- First Holland solo title on both tabs. Watching Captain America: Civil War first helps—this Peter is introduced there. Full MCU list on MCU movies in order (not duplicated as a row here).
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release July 7, 2017 (MCU Phase Three).

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
TheatricalStreamingSpider-VerseAnimatedMiles Morales becomes Spider-Man with help from a glitching crew of alternate Spiders—Oscar-winning animation that feels like a moving comic. Separate from live-action canons until you treat it as the Miles origin for Across the Spider-Verse.
- Overview
- Phil Lord & Christopher Miller’s production reinvented the look of animated superhero film: halftones, squiggles, dimensional offsets. Shameik Moore’s Miles, Jake Johnson’s cynical Peter B., and the 'anyone can wear the mask' theme made it a modern classic beside the live-action slate.
- Related games
- Not required before No Way Home. Required before Across the Spider-Verse. Beyond the Spider-Verse stays FAQ-only until dated.
- Where it fits
- On Release it sits between Homecoming and Far From Home (2018 premiere). On Story this page parks the Miles duo after the live-action Holland path so No Way Home’s Tobey/Andrew payoff stays uninterrupted—then you binge Into → Across.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release December 14, 2018.

Spider-Man: Far From Home
TheatricalStreamingMCU HollandLive-actionA European class trip turns into a war of illusions as Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) cons the world—and Peter—while the emotional fallout of the Blip hangs over every joke. Public identity stakes explode in the credits scenes that aim straight at No Way Home.
- Overview
- Post-Endgame tone: grief, impostor mentors, and drone-fueled spectacle. Beck’s con reframes what “next Iron Man” pressure does to a kid hero. Mid-credits and post-credits identity leaks are why this film is a hard prerequisite for No Way Home.
- Related games
- MCU prep recommended: Infinity War & Endgame. Games remain separate: Spider-Man games.
- Where it fits
- Watch after Homecoming. Strongly better after Infinity War and Endgame so the Blip context reads clearly—those Avengers films live on MCU movies in order, not as duplicate rows here.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release July 2, 2019 (MCU Phase Three / early Four bridge).

Spider-Man: No Way Home
TheatricalStreamingMCU HollandMultiverseA broken spell pulls Tobey and Andrew’s Spider-Men—and their villains—into Tom’s world. The live-action multiverse payoff this whole page is built around: three Peters, shared grief, and a memory-altering finale that resets Holland’s status quo.
- Overview
- Jon Watts stages the reunion fans argued about for years without turning it into empty cameo bait. Legacy casting works because Raimi and Amazing exist as full films, not trailers. Doctor Strange’s involvement ties the story to the wider Multiverse Saga on the MCU page.
- Related games
- Wider Multiverse Saga neighbors (Strange, Loki-era context): MCU movies in order.
- Where it fits
- Watch after Far From Home. For maximum payoff, finish Raimi 1–3 and Amazing 1–2 first (Story tab order). Tom-only still works; you will just miss half the reunion emotion.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release December 17, 2021 (MCU Phase Four).

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
TheatricalStreamingSpider-VerseAnimatedMiles clashes with Miguel O’Hara’s Spider-Society over “canon events,” Gwen’s world deepens, and the film ends on a cliffhanger aimed at Beyond the Spider-Verse. Denser, bolder, and unfinished by design.
- Overview
- Even denser visual grammar than Into: every universe gets a distinct animation language. Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen and Oscar Isaac’s Miguel expand the mythology from “fun multiverse romp” into a debate about fate vs choice.
- Related games
- Beyond the Spider-Verse timing stays FAQ-only until a firm US date locks.
- Where it fits
- Watch after Into the Spider-Verse. Not required for live-action No Way Home. On Story tab it is the second half of the Miles lane after Brand New Day.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release June 2, 2023.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day
TheatricalStreamingMCU HollandLive-actionHolland’s next MCU solo chapter after No Way Home—the current live-action endpoint on this page. Keep spoilers light until you have seen it; treat it as the new “last Tom film” on both tabs.
- Overview
- Continues Sony/Marvel’s MCU Spider-Man deal after the multiverse soft reset. For Avengers-era neighbors and Phase placement, pair this row with the full MCU movies list rather than expecting every crossover on this Spidey-brand page.
- Related games
- Insomniac games remain a separate canon: Spider-Man games. Full MCU neighbors: MCU movies in order.
- Where it fits
- Latest Release and Story endpoint for live-action Holland. Watch after No Way Home. Miles animated films are a parallel lane, not prerequisites.
- Premiere dates
- US theatrical release July 31, 2026.
FAQ
Release vs universe order, Tom Holland path, MCU prep, Venom spin-offs, and games vs movies.
Watch order
Universe order (Story tab) finishes Tobey, then Andrew, then Tom, then Miles—so No Way Home hits harder. Use Story if this is your first full binge and you care about the multiverse reunion.
1. Spider-Man → 2 → 3 (Tobey / Raimi)
2. The Amazing Spider-Man → 2 (Andrew / Webb)
3. Homecoming → Far From Home → No Way Home → Brand New Day (Tom / MCU)
4. Into the Spider-Verse → Across the Spider-Verse (Miles)
Release order only moves the Miles films earlier (2018 / 2023 premiere slots).
For his first MCU appearance and Avengers crossovers, open MCU movies in order (start with Captain America: Civil War, then add Infinity War / Endgame before Far From Home if you want full Blip context).
